The Wilkinson Sword competition, which started in 1980, has been a significant event for schools, and Drayton Manor has a history of success in this competition. Our recent streak of victories began in 2009, and since then, we have won 14 out of 15 competitions. This year’s triumph in 2024 marks our latest victory, continuing our longest consecutive run of 9 wins in a row.

In an impressive display of skill and determination, Drayton Manor amassed a total of 475 points, leaving the competition far behind. The second-place team managed to garner only 329 points, underscoring the sheer dominance of our school across all categories and year groups. This triumph is not just a testament to the talent of our pupils but also to the meticulous preparation and strategic planning executed by our dedicated staff.

Adding to our history, Drayton Manor had also won the competition three times prior to 2009, bringing our total number of victories to 17The Wilkinson Sword trophy, currently engraved up until 2018, will soon need updating to reflect these recent accomplishments.

Our continued success in the Wilkinson Sword competition is a source of immense pride and a testament to the collective effort of our entire school community.
